Trio In Contention for Young Athlete of the Year Honour

England footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts sensation Luke Littler and batswoman Davina Perrin have been shortlisted for the this year's Young Sports Star of the Year award.

These three athletes have been honoured for their remarkable achievements over the past 12 months.

Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler secured the world title for the first time, and Perrin surged to prominence with a historic innings.

Littler claimed this honour in 2024 after his remarkable rise.

The three contenders were announced live on a national radio breakfast show.

This year's winner will be unveiled on the prestigious sports ceremony show on the 18th of December.

The event will be broadcast from 7 PM GMT.

Michelle Agyemang

Age: 19 Sport: Football

A mere three months after her international debut, Agyemang played a pivotal and thrilling role in England's run to European Championship victory.

She was introduced as a substitute to score vital last-gasp goals in both the last eight and last four matches.

These match-saving moments led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.

Afterwards, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the top young European talent.

She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the global standout among U21 women.

Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, suffered an ACL injury in October.

"Being nominated for this award is an honour," said Agyemang. "I thank God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my loved ones, mentors, colleagues and supporters."

Littler's Profile

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

The year started for Littler in spectacular fashion as - while still 17 - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.

He secured a dominant victory over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth individual to complete the prestigious PDC Triple Crown.

He didn't stop there - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he ascended to world number one for the very first time.

At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, smashing the previous record.

"Being nominated for this award again is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "My victory in 2024 was a special memory for me and I've had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."

Perrin is one of English cricket's brightest emerging stars and rose to fame with an remarkable and historic innings in August.

Her magnificent 42-ball century in The Hundred is the quickest ever by an English female in T20s.

It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a premier tournament.

Perrin ended up as runner-up in the season's run tally and was named the young player of the year by the PCA.

"I'm deeply humbled to be shortlisted for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award," expressed Perrin. "It means a great deal. I hope it inspires more girls to get into cricket."
